Before his senior football season began, Clinton running back David Johnson had scholarship offers from Northern Iowa and Illinois State.
The list of firm offers hasn't grown since then, but the level of interest certainly has.
Talking to River Kings coach Lee Camp at practice Tuesday, he confirmed that Kansas has joined Iowa and Iowa State in the hunt.
Rivals.com lists Wisconsin and Northern Illinois as interested, but Camp didn't mention either school as a regular as far as calling him for information.
One school not mentioned on the Rivals list that Camp said is very interested is Wyoming. The Cowboys heard about Johnson from someone with close ties to Iowa.
Cowboys defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery is a 2002 Iowa graduate and spent three years coaching the UNI defensive line. He also used to play for the Quad-City Steamwheelers.
Word continues to circulate that Johnson's first choice is Iowa, but that the Hawkeyes would like to use him as a receiver, which isn't Johnson's first choice.
That continues to be just rumor, as the Hawks haven't extended an offer, and Johnson is content to wait on any decision.
Through eight games, he has 29 total touchdowns and has collected 1,014 rushing yards on only 107 carries.
