Oh there is drama and intrigue in the NCIC Reagan my friends, drama and intrigue the last two weeks of the football season.
La Salle-Peru is the current king of the pigskin hill, but that hill is slippery. Following a non-conference matchup against Woodstock this week, the Cavaliers head into a tilt that with Sterling the next week that will decide the NCIC Reagan.
Basically, the conference shakes out like this:
If L-P beats Sterling in two weeks, the conference is theirs, no questions asked.
If Sterling wins out, the Reagan is theirs no questions asked.
However, if Sterling loses at Dixon this Friday that opens the door for Geneseo to sneak in and steal a share of the title.
Geneseo needs to beat Ottawa (3-4) this weekend to keep their dream alive. And that game may or may not happen depending on what goes on with the Ottawa teacher's strike. Then, for the Maple Leafs to come into the picture, Sterling needs to lose to Dixon and then beat La Salle-Peru, thus landing L-P, Sterling and Geneseo in a three-way tie at the top. The Leafs beat the Golden Warriors earlier this season and dropped a heartbreaker to the Cavaliers last Friday.
Morris could also snag the title if they win out and La Salle-Peru gets picked off by Sterling. It's just plain crazy and ought to be a ton of fun to watch.
