Outlook: In his first year replacing Jayme Olson, Lammers inherits one of the league's top inside-out combos in Dunlavy and Hayes.
Burlington
Coach: Mark Miller (fifth year)
Last season: 9-14, 6-10 (sixth); lost to Cedar Rapids Prairie in Class 4A regional semifinals
Players to watch: Stacia Dean, 5-7, Jr., G (10.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 spg); Chandra McCampbell, 5-6, So., G (6.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg); Hilary Beaird, 5-6, Sr., F (5.4 rpg, 1.0 bpg)
Outlook: Dean remains a solid all-around player, and McCampbell led all MAC freshmen in scoring last season.
Clinton
Coach: Jason McEwen (fourth year)
Last season: 3-20, 1-15 (10th); lost to Linn-Mar in Class 4A regional semifinals
Players to watch: Leisha Harris, 6-0, Jr., C (7.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg); Colleen Ryan, 5-9, Sr., G/F (15.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg with Prince of Peace); Rachel Ryan, 5-8, Sr., G (12.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg with Prince of Peace)
Outlook: The River Queens might have found two reasons why they'll stay out of the cellar this year, with the Ryan sisters and their combined 27 points a game transferring from Prince of Peace.
Davenport Assumption
Coach: Todd Borrison (ninth year)
Last season: 18-4, 16-0 (conference champ); lost to Central DeWitt in Class 3A regional quarterfinals
Players to watch: Alyson Spinas-Valainis, 6-3, Sr., C (18.5 ppg, 2nd in MAC; 58 percent FGs, 8.7 rpg, 3.5 bpg, led MAC); Sam Thrapp, 5-7, Sr., G (6.0 assists, led MAC; 10.6 ppg, 3.8 spg, 2nd in MAC); Melissa Youngblut, 5-11, Jr., F (6.4 ppg, 43 percent 3FGs)
Outlook: The Class 3A fourth-ranked Knights are on a six-year tear through the MAC, winning 93 of 95 games.
Davenport Central
Coach: Tom Eagle (fourth year)
Last season: 7-15, 5-11 (tie, seventh); lost to Pleasant Valley in Class 4A regional quarterfinals
Players to watch: Anna Kaufmann, 5-8, Sr., G (10.2 ppg, 41 percent 3FGs); Kate Hoeksema, 5-6, Sr., G (9.8 ppg, 1.5 apg); Malea Buck, 5-6, Jr., G (1.9 ppg)
Outlook: The Blue Devils lost seven conference games by a combined 22 points last year, so if Central's strong junior class grows up quickly, a top-three finish wouldn't be a shock.
Davenport North
Coach: Richard Uthoff (second year)
Last season: 5-17, 5-11 (tie, seventh); lost to North Scott in Class 4A regional quarterfinals
Players to watch: Amber Harrington, 5-10, Sr., G (26.6 ppg, 2nd in state, led Class 4A; 5.5 rpg, 2.8 apg); Antonea Stuckey, 5-11, Jr., F (14.1 rpg, led MAC; 11.8 ppg, 56 percent FGs); Ashley Mayes, 5-7, Jr., G (8.9 ppg, 2.5 spg)
Outlook: The Wildcats return the MAC's leading scorer, the MAC's leading rebounder, and had no seniors on the roster last year.
Davenport West
Coach: Gary Honson (15th year)
Last season: 14-9, 11-5 (tie, third); lost to Cedar Rapids Kennedy in Class 4A regional semifinals
Players to watch: Maddy Ruggeberg, 5-8, Sr., G (3.1 ppg, 2.7 apg, 2.2 spg); Abby Willich, 5-6, Sr., G (6.6 ppg, 35 percent 3FGs); Mackenzie Gray, 5-7, Sr., G (1.4 ppg, 2.0 rpg)
Outlook: The Falcons have to replace nearly 69 percent of the points scored by the graduated Lindsey Buckles, Steph Hasken and three other Falcons.
Muscatine
Coach: Susan Orvis (first year)
Last season: 3-19, 2-14 (ninth); lost to Davenport West in Class 4A regional quarterfinals
Players to watch: Viola Wagner, 5-10, Sr., F (9.3 rpg, 3rd in MAC; 12.6 ppg); Jordan Walgren, 5-5, Sr., G (7.1 ppg, 76 percent FTs); Haylie Franklin, 5-11, Sr., G (4.7 rpg, 2.1 bpg)
Outlook: Orvis, a four-year letterwinner at Iowa, has her work cut out for her after a three-win season at Muscatine.
North Scott
Coach: Larry Schroeder (fourth year)
Last season: 15-8, 11-5 (tie, third); lost to Cedar Rapids Xavier in Class 4A regional semifinals
Players to watch: Holly Nelson, 6-0, Sr., F (3.7 ppg, 2.6 rpg); Kaitlin Heinen, 5-10, Sr., C (2.9 ppg, 2.5 rpg); Jenna Gerard, 5-9, Sr., F (1.5 rpg)
Outlook: It's a rebuilding project for the Lancers, who lost six of their top seven scorers to graduation.
Pleasant Valley
Coach: Craig Clark (20th year)
Last season: 14-9, 11-5 (tie, third); lost to Cedar Rapids Washington in Class 4A regional semifinals
Players to watch: Stacy Clark, 6-1, Jr., F (11.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg); Lindsey Jipp, 5-8, Jr., G (10.0 ppg, 38 percent 3FGs, 81 percent FTs); Ashley Jipp, 5-5, Jr., G (2.0 ppg, 2.4 apg)
Outlook: The No. 15 Spartans will be powered by the Jipps' guard play.
