Muscatine's Danielle Frere, a member of the Iowa State women's track and field team, finished second in the shot put Friday at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships.

Frere, a freshman, recorded a personal-best throw of 49 feet, 5 inches in the meet at Eugene, Ore., the third consecutive meet that Frere has established a new personal best.

Competition will continue today at 11 a.m. with freshman Jordon Andreassen competing in the women's heptathlon.
