Brandon Scherff, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound lineman from Denison, Iowa, became the ninth player to make a verbal commitment the Iowa football program's 2010 recruiting class.
Scherff told Hawkeyereport.com that he informed Hawkeye offensive line coach Reese Morgan of his decision by phone on Tuesday morning.
The Denison-Schleswig prep selected Iowa over offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State. He is the first offensive lineman to announce intentions to sign with the Hawkeyes, who are expected to sign 16-18 players during the NCAA's February signing period.
