ROBINSON RAMBLES: Iowa freshman Adam Robinson recorded the first 100-yard game of his career, finishing with 101 yards in 18 carries. He left the game with a thigh injury in the fourth quarter but said he will be fine for Saturday's game at Penn State.
Robinson turned in perhaps the most talked-about play of the game when he ran for 43 yards on a third-and-23 draw play in the second quarter. Arizona coach Mike Stoops said it was the play that broke his team's back.
"I was just going to do what I could and get as much as I could," Robinson said. "I wasn't really expecting to go 43 yards, but our offensive line had other ideas."
ERRATIC AGAIN: Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi had his ups and downs again Saturday, throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown in the first quarter and missing several open receivers.
But in the end, his numbers were decent: 20 completions in 32 attempts, 205 yards.
"I threw my first pick six today but it came in a game that we win. I guess that's good thing,'' Stanzi said. "It's a learning experience; that's all it is. Would I like that one back? No, I'd throw it every time. The guy just made a great play on it. You can't sit back and worry about what your stats are because that doesn't mean anything. What matters is who wins.''
INJURY REPORT: As rumored, offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga, tight end Tony Moeaki and wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos were not in uniform for the Hawkeyes because of various ailments.
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said he wasn't sure if the three would be back next week.
"There's a chance," he said. "I don't know if it's a good chance."
WILDCAT OUT: The injury news was worse for Arizona. Star tight end Rob Gronkowski not only didn't play Saturday, but he is now out for the year. Stoops said he will undergo back surgery.
IT WAS NICE, BUT: Stoops, an All-Big Ten safety at Iowa in the 1980s, said it was nice to be back in Kinnick Stadium but he didn't attach a lot of emotion to the occasion.
"I loved my time here, but my concerns are about my program and what we're doing," he said. "I love Kirk and I love the people here, but it's more about what we needed to do to win and I'm disappointed we didn't play better as a team and a program. That's the disheartening part to me."
PROLIFIC PUNTING: Iowa punter Ryan Donahue has had at least one punt of 50 or more yards in 12 of the past 14 games, but Saturday he outdid himself. He had four of them. He launched punts of 50 and 51 yards in the first half and 62 and 58 yards in the second half.
