Waterloo Bucks outfielder Willie Argo was named the Northwoods League player of the night for his work Thursday in a game at LaCrosse.
Argo, a former Davenport Assumption star who just finished his freshman season at Illinois, went 3-for-5 and accounted for four of Waterloo's nine runs in its come-from-behind victory in the college wood-bat league.
Overall, Argo is currently hitting .219 with two homers and 11 RBIs for Waterloo, which is off to a 9-18 start.
Bees' Darmody 17th: John Darmody, who finished his freshman season on the St. Ambrose men's track team, finished 17th in the preliminaries of the 1,500-meter run Saturday at the USA Junior National Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Darmody ran a time of 3 minutes, 58.55 seconds to miss the qualifying mark for today's finals by 3 seconds.
