Several downtown Davenport streets are closed in preparation for the Bix festivities. Others are closing today. Here is a list of today's closings:

At 1 p.m. until noon Saturday (open for Bix packet pickup) - Pershing from 2nd to 4th streets, 4th Street from Perhing to Brady streets, 3rd Street from Pershing to Brady streets.

At 1 p.m. until noon Saturday - Iowa Street from 2nd to 4th streets, LeClaire Street from 2nd to 4th streets, 3rd Street from River Drive to Pershing.

At 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday and noon Saturday to 7 a.m. Monday - 3rd Street from Harrison Street to Ripley Street.

At Saturday 6 a.m. to noon Saturday - Brady Street from River Drive to 4th Street, 4th Street from Brady to Main streets, 2nd Street from Brady to Perry streets, and the Government Bridge. Check out the map accompanying this story for complete closures.

Other roadwork and detours to take note of this morning.

• Crews will be out performing asphalt milling schedule on the following downt Clinton streets today: 4th Avenue South from 2nd to 3rd streets, 5th Avenue South from 3rd to 4th streets, 6th Avenue South from 1st to 4th streets. Only one block will be closed at a time, and for no more than 2 hours per block. Once milling is complete, the road reopen to traffic. Asphalt paving on these blocks should start next week in addition to South 1st Street from 4th Avenue South to 7th Avenue South and 4th Avenue South from 3rd Street to 4th Street.

• The 700 block of Perry Street is closed to repair a cave in. The street is expected to reopen sometime next week.

• The curb lanes on Harrison between 37th and 35th streets are closed for fiber optic installation in the boulevard, reducing Harrison to two lanes of traffic through the area. Work will continue through the end of the week.

• Illinois 5/Illinois 92 in Silvis, Ill., is closed to through traffic until the end of the month for removal and replacement of the rail crossing at Morton Drive and 40th Street (Barstow Road). A detour will be marked from Illinois 5/92, west on Morton Drive to 40th Street, then south on 40th Street back to Illinois 5/92.

• South 14th Street patching has begun from 14th Avenue South to Prospect Avenue in Clinton. Traffic control is up in some locations which will close two lanes during construction. Instead of 4-lane, two-way traffic, all traffic will be routed to the northbound lanes. Once construction is completed on the southbound lanes, traffic will be rerouted so work can begin on the northbound lanes. This project should take four weeks to complete.

• Lombard Street in Davenport is closed west of Marquette Street to the east side of the Genesis West Health System entrance and from the west side of Genesis to the entrance to ORA, east of Washington Street. The south half of Lombard east of Fillmore Street will have access to 2133 Fillmore, 1347 and 1343 Lombard; 1333 Lombard has access only through the alley to High Street. The St. Ambrose Daycare has access from Marquette. The Genesis south entrance remains open for traffic from Fillmore Street. Lombard will reopen from Fillmore to Washington Streets on July 27.

• The first phase of Division Street widening project between Cheyenne and Northwest Boulevard is under way. During the first phase, Division Street is closed to through traffic from south of Wood Intermediate School to Northwest Boulevard. Access will be provided to the school from Northwest Boulevard when school begins. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route for the remainder of the construction season.

• Illinois 78/Cherry Street in Morrison, Ill., is closed at the railroad crossing to through traffic until July 24 to allow the Union Pacific Railroad to make repairs on crossings located between Wall and Market streets. Traffic from the south will be detoured on Wall Street west to Orange Street, then north on Orange Street to Illinois 78. Traffic from the north will be detoured west to Orange Street, south on Orange Street and east on Wall Street to Illinois 78.

• McCarthy Improvement is working on the outside eastbound lane of 23rd Avenue in Moline from 18th Street A to 25th Street. This outside eastbound lane is closed to traffic and then the construction will move to the westbound lanes. The duration of the work will be about 2-3 months.

• One lane of Iowa 92 is closed at the bridge approach in Columbus Junction. The project will repair the roadway on each end of the bridge. Traffic in the area will be assisted by a temporary traffic signal on the open lane.

• Oak Street in Bettendorf is undergoing full-depth pavement patching at several locations between 23rd and 30th streets. This includes repair of the sanitary sewer main at several of the patch locations between 26th and 28th streets. Two-way alternating traffic will be necessary around construction areas.

• U.S. 67 in Rock Island County from Illinois 94 to 78th Avenue expect lane restrictions until Oct. 2.

• Pine Street between West 53rd Street and Northwest Boulevard in Davenport is reduced to one lane in each direction for patching. Through lanes are being stopped intermittently to move equipment. Work is expected to last several months.

• Southbound 6th Street is closed from Holmes Street in Bettendorf to the Davenport city limits. There will be one-way traffic in the northbound lane. A gap in the paving construction will allow access to Broadlawn Avenue.

• The roadway reconstruction of 23rd Street in Bettendorf is under way from Grant Street to Central Avenue.

• The westbound lane (Iowa-bound) of Interstate 74 is closed from John Deere Road to the Mississippi River bridge for work that includes bridge repairs and concrete patching. The outside (right) lane is closed. When completed, work will be moved to the inside lanes.

• The ramps are closed at the Avenue of the Cities to I-74 westbound and John Deere Road westbound to I-74 westbound. The detour route for the Avenue of the Cities is north on 19th Street to 7th Avenue, then east on 7th Avenue to ramp entrance. The detour route for John Deere Road ramp closure is the Illinois 5 (John Deere Road)/I-74 clover leaf. Drivers are be asked to get on eastbound I-74 from John Deere Road then loop around by immediately taking eastbound John Deere Road to the on ramp for westbound I-74.

• Illinois 92 (the Centennial Expressway) from 16th Street in Rock Island to south of Interstate 280. The project includes bridge replacements at 7th, 18th and 31st avenues.

Coming up

• The Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad are making crossing improvements in East Moline/Silvis. Weather permitting, the schedule is:

July 27 - 19th Street (Illinois 84) 0.4 miles north of Illinois 92 crossing replacement until Aug. 7.

Aug. 3 - 13th Street crossing replacement.
