Jason Gordon, who once worked on the staffs of former Republican congressmen Jim Leach and Jim Nussle, has announced plans to run for an open At-Large seat on the Davenport City Council.
Jason Gordon, 34, who worked as a district representative for Nussle - and is being endorsed by him for the city office - said his experience and background would make him an asset on the council.
"I have spent my professional life serving others in various capacities," he said, referring to his work in fund development for the past two years for area nonprofit organizations. "My desire to serve as alderman-at-large is yet another way in which I can continue serving the people of Davenport."
Gordon is currently director of new business development for Community Health Charities Iowa. He also serves on the city's Park and Recreation Advisory Board.
He is married and has two children.
Gordon becomes the second non-incumbent to announce his candidacy, joining Robby Ortiz, who is also seeking an At-Large seat. Friday, City Clerk Jackie Holecek said no other challengers have filed. The deadline is Thursday, Aug. 27.
