The Rock Island County Health Department has received a large shipment of the H1N1 vaccine and will offer a drive-through clinic for priority
groups that won’t require appointments.
The drive-through clinic will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Greater Quad-City Auto Auction, 4015 78th Ave., Milan, Ill.
Priority groups are individuals ages 5-24 years old; pregnant women, caregivers of infants under six months old; health care and emergency personnel, and people 25-64 years old who have chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
The shots are free and will be given inside the vehicles, but participants are asked to wear clothing that allows easy access to their shoulders.
U.S. Rep. Phil Hare, D-Ill., sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius last week urging the department to speed up delivery of vaccines to the district.
In Davenport, the Scott County Health Department is hosting H1N1 clinics by appointment today through Saturday at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.
The priority populations at these clinics have expanded to include healthy children, ages six months to 18 years old, and people with chronic health conditions, ages six months to 64 years old.
The events are 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Expo Center, located just west of the grandstand at the fairgrounds, 2815 W. Locust St., Davenport. Appointments are mandatory by calling (563) 326-8618.
Also in Rock Island, the health department will host a pediatric clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday for young children, ages 6 months to 5 years old. Parents must call to make an appointment at (309) 558-2999. The health department is located at 2112 25th Ave., Rock Island.
