One man is dead and another seriously wounded in a Davenport shooting last night.
Police say Albert E. Mayweathers, 31, of Davenport was killed and Darrius L. Brown, 38, of Milan, Ill., was seriously injured after they were both shot while sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1100 bock of Tremont Avenue at 8:05 p.m. Monday.
Witnesses said that a man walking on the east side sidewalk approached the vehicle from the rear and shot into the vehicle through the open passenger side window. The shooter then fled.
The driver of the victim vehicle then drove north on Tremont a very short distance, turned west onto East 12th Street and then south into the alley between Tremont and Arlington avenues. The vehicle continued south in that alley and drove into a parking area and stopped.
Both Mayweathers and Brown were found outside of the vehicle in the alley and taken by Medic EMS to Genesis East Medical Center.
Mayweathers died while undergoing treatment while Brown remains in serious condition.
The investigation is continuing.

The names of the victims are not being released pending notification of family members.

Police investigate Davenport shooting
EARLIER STORY: Two men in their 30s suffered life-threatening injuries Monday night in a shooting in the 1100 block of Tremont Avenue in Davenport.
Police said two men were sitting in a van when a third man walked up to the van and started shooting about 8 p.m. The shooter ran off. The van then drove away, but made it only a short distance before having to stop because of the driver's injuries.
The two victims were taken to Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport.
Both are undergoing surgery late Monday night.
