SHERRARD, Ill. - The Sherrard Academic Foundation is announcing its second Hall of Fame class with six inductees.

Rear Admiral Richard Friichtenicht (Sherrard High School Class of 1950) - He received a Vietnam Service Medal and a Legion of Merit with Gold Star and also served as vice commander of Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He died in March.

Ralph Harris (Sherrard High School Class of 1956) - Harris served as chairman of Economics and Business Administration at St. Ambrose University and spent 26 years with the Army Management Engineering College.

Janice (Tindall) DeTaeye (Sherrard High School Class of 1956) - She founded the Moline Public Schools Foundation and served as the executive director of the Quad-City Volunteer Center.

Dwight Burrill (Winola High School Class of 1958. Burrill serves as the CEO for the Foundation for Human Development in Columbia, Md., and was also the president of Howard Community College for 16 years.

Brad Anderson (Sherrard High School Class of 1977) - He is a vice president with Dell Computers.

Dan Steele (Sherrard High School Class of 1987) - Steele won a Bronze Medal in 2002 Olympics as a member of the U.S. Bobsled team and was also named the 2009 NCAA Men's Track and Field National Coach of the Year for his role at Oregon University track coach.

"It's a great class," foundation spokeswoman Jennifer Nolin said. "It's such a diverse group. "You've got athletics, you've got military, you've got community and you've got education and business and some really outstanding achievement in all of those."

They will be honored at a banquet at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Rock Reception Hall. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple, with a silent and live auction. To make reservations, contact Nolin at (309) 948-1658.
