DAVENPORT — Services for Billie Jane Jecklin, 74, Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Jecklin died Friday, March 1, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Home, Davenport.
Billie was a homemaker after working at Independent Bakery, Crescent Macaroni and the Old Mill, where she met her husband, "Johnny" Jecklin. Shebaby-sat in her home for 44 years and worked at "Sharon's Styling Studio" and "Quad City Dental Lab" helping her children.
Billie Shirlaw was born Mar. 24, 1927, in Davenport, to William and Esther (Wilson) Shirlaw. She married John E. Jecklin on Dec. 15, 1950, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1985.
Billie was a beloved mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her life was her family and her legacy, the children, she raised, both her own and the 50 something she baby-sat for through the years.
She instilled in them the love, loyalty, sensitivity and values that she lived by her whole life, making her loved by everyone whose life she touched. She will be missed more than she would have ever believed. She was goodness and love in its urest form, giving everything and demanding nothing. In her life, she made a difference.
In her death, heaven became a better place. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Debbie Jecklin, Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Don Wachal, Davenport; seven grandchildren, Tracy Naab and her husband Lou, Cory Wachal, Michael and Kyle Jecklin, Sara, Carrie, and Andy Beaderstadt; great-grandchildren, Sam and Louis Naab; sisters, Bonnie Hultgren and her husband Don, Lois Van Maanen, Dawny Porter and her husband Randy, Wilminia Henry; brother, Lewis Shirlaw and his wife, Jan; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brandel, and her Good Samaritan "Family" that she's loved for the last six years because of their loving care and valued friendship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jim and Bob, niece, Jamie, brothers-in-law, Walt Van Maanen and Alex Henry.
