Here, according to a recent Gallup Poll, are the Top 10 "things" considered to be Americans' most common fears. Some may surprise you and others, well, they may just freak you out:

FEAR NO. 10: WATER

Main reason it's considered scary? Um, drowning. And sharks.

FEAR NO. 9: STORMS

They're scary because of lightning. Oh, and you can drown if flooding results.

FEAR NO. 8: PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

We're talking planes, trains and buses here. Just follow the news in this paper.

FEAR NO. 7: CROWDS

You've got the pushing. The shoving. The trampling. Basic mob mentality.

FEAR NO. 6: TUNNELS AND BRIDGES

The main concern here is the fear of collapse and being trapped inside.

FEAR NO. 5: SPIDERS

Most say it's because they are "just plain creepy."

FEAR NO. 4: HEIGHTS

The fear of falling or the sensation of wanting to jump. Yeah, that is scary.

FEAR NO. 3: CONFINED SPACES

This is the tunnel and bridge crowd here. It's the coffin complex.

FEAR NO. 2: SNAKES

They beat spiders because they combine creepy and slithery.

FEAR NO. 1: PUBLIC SPEAKING

Sure, everyone is in their underwear, but you're still in front of them all!
