St. Paul the Apostle celebrates 100 years

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 916 E. Rusholme St., Davenport, is celebrating 100 years with activities Sunday.

The St. Paul the Apostle Adult Choir will perform a prelude of music at 2:15 p.m. in the church. The Centennial Mass with Bishop Martin Amos will be celebrated at 3 p.m. in the church. An ice cream social will be held in Denning Hall after Mass. Centennial memorabilia will be for sale.

In spring 1909, Bishop Henry Davis, the third bishop of Davenport, bought a plot of land at Rusholme Street and Tremont Avenue that would become St. Paul the Apostle Church. The church held its first Mass on Dec. 12, 1909.
