Basic training

Air Force Airman Austin Bender, son of Ty Bender, Taylor Ridge, Ill., graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is a 2009 graduate of Rockridge High School, Edgington, Ill.

Air Force Airman Douglas Rossmiller, son of Mary Rossmiller and Paul Rossmiller, both of Bettendorf, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is a 2006 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Cody McNamar, son of Robin Anderson, Waterloo, Iowa, and Bobby Jo McNamar, Davenport, completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Army Reserve Pvt. Lakevia Threatt, daughter of Denial Farley, Davenport, and Shirrell Farley, East St. Louis, Ill., graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is a 2006 graduate of Davenport Central High School.

Army Pvt. Karl Allen, son of Karl and Tina Allen, Rock Island, graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

ROTC leader development

Erin Doyle, daughter of Jerry and Kathy Lowry, Bettendorf, graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The 32 days of training provide professional training and evaluation for cadets in all aspects of military life. She is a 2001 graduate of Bettendorf High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 2005 from Iowa State University, Ames.

ROTC leader training

Joseph Richardson, son of Mary Richardson, Bettendorf graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. College students experience the Army during the four-week course and are eligible to receive two-year college scholarship offers and attend the Advanced ROTC Course at their college. He is a 2006 graduate of Bettendorf High School.
