Basic training

Air Force Airman 1st Class Brian Fiscella, son of Dr. Ronald and Donna Fiscella, Moline, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is a 1997 graduate of Moline High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2001 from Illinois State University, Normal.

Retirement

Sgt. Maj. Dawn Lisbon, daughter of Ronald and Joyce Stoddard, Clinton, Iowa, retired from the Army in a ceremony held Aug. 26 at Fort Carson, Colo.

She began her Army career in 1979 at Fort Jackson, S.C. She completed assignments at Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Saudi Arabia, Operation Desert Shield/Storm; Fort Wainwright, Alaska.; Fort Campbell, Ky.; Belgium; Fort Bliss, Texas; Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.; Camp Zama, Japan; and Fort Carson, Colo.

She received numerous awards and decorations, including the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Advanced training

Marine Sgt. Douglas Gross, son of Gary and Pamela Gross, Moline, completed a deployment in support of Exercise Northern Edge at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Northern Edge is one in a series of Pacific Command exercises that prepare joint forces to respond to crises in the Asian Pacific region. He is a 2003 graduate of Moline High School.

Graduation

Senior Chief Scott Atkinson, son of George and Sandra Atkinson, East Moline, received a master of arts degree in security management from the American Military University. He is stationed at Ingleside, Texas.
