Quick question: What game do you play most on your Wii?

For most people, that question is easily answered with "Wii Sports."

The collection of mini-games that came with the system has lived a successful life. Games come and go, but what gets pulled out first when friends visit? "Wii Sports."

Unfortunately, "Wii Sports" lacked depth, with just five games, and many players wanted more. Hence, "Wii Sports Resort," which expands on popular games from "Wii Sports" and invents its own. Some are successful. Others aren't.

The included Wii MotionPlus accessory has a lot to do with why some of these games are successful. The MotionPlus snaps onto the remote and makes it much more precise. It actually can sense where in space you're holding the remote instead of just general movements.

This greatly improves the accuracy in returning games such as bowling and golf. Of course, it takes some adjustment, but once you get the hang of it, it'll be hard to go back to the old "Wii Sports."

Games I liked: archery, swordplay, Frisbee, bowling and golf.

The games I like do what they're supposed to and include a fun multiplayer experience that will be different every time you play it. I especially enjoyed the unlockable Frisbee golf mode and the 100-pin bowling.

Games I didn't like: cycling, canoeing, power cruising, wakeboarding.

These games control fine, but they're just really, really boring. Even when you add in a competition aspect, you're not doing much but performing repetitive motions. I'm sorry, but it just doesn't excite me to waggle the controllers up and down to pedal the bike and mimic the rowing motions in a canoe.

I'm in the middle about three games: table tennis, basketball and air sports (planes). I didn't dislike them, but I don't foresee playing them often.

Despite the throwaway games, the good games are really fun, especially - though maybe only - if you have friends with which to play them.

"Wii Sports Resort" is a big improvement on "Wii Sports," and it should be in all Wii owners' libraries.

Etc., etc.

-- Another accessory: Be prepared to buy at least one more MotionPlus add-on. You'll need it to play against a friend.

-- That's funny: Sometimes it's more entertaining to watch the person playing rather than the screen, especially during the swordfighting - unless you're the other player, of course.
