The Q-C Area section of the July 13 Quad-City Times had an article, “Power of E85,” with a photo of an individual filling a plastic container of fuel located in the plastic- lined bed of his pickup.
This has been identified in professional safety bulletins and other media as a significant safety hazard because the gasoline in that static electricity can cause ignition of the fumes. Fuel containers should be filled while sitting on the ground.

There was a photo of a gentleman filling a gas can of E85 gasoline in the back of his truck in the July 13, Quad-City Times. This is considered very dangerous because the bedliner is a source of static electricity. A fire or explosion could result from the spark created by the static causing injury to the person filling the can.
There are signs posted at most gas stations encouraging placing the gas can on the ground to fill it.
