RI Arsenal offers Quarters One tours

Public tours of Rock Island Arsenal’s historic Quarters One will be available Thursday-Saturday through Aug. 3.

Tour hours are 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Each tour is limited to 15 participants. Advance registration is required. To register, visit the Quarters One Web site at http://www.ria.army.mil/sites/pa%5Ftours/. Those without Internet access can call (309) 782-3488 for reservations.

Quarters One, completed in 1872, is not handicapped accessible. Tour participants must be able to climb stairs. Strollers are not allowed in the home, and children taking the tours must have adult supervision at all times.

Quarters One was the home of highest ranking officers at Rock Island Arsenal for more than 100 years. The historic home is no longer used as a military dwelling.

To gain access to Rock Island Arsenal, enter through the Moline or Davenport gate. Photo identification is required for all visitors older than 16.
