Trinity Cancer Center is seeking participants for an international breast cancer prevention clinical trial.
The ExCel research study is designed to determine whether a special type of medication can prevent breast cancer in healthy, postmenopausal women older than 35 years who are at increased risk for developing breast cancer.
Some risk factors for breast cancer include age (8 out of 10 breast cancer cases are in women older than 50), the age when menstruation began, the age when a woman gave birth to her first live child, personal medical history and relatives with a history of breast cancer.
The study is coordinated by the National Cancer Institute of Canada. For more information, contact Judy Howell, Trinity clinical research nurse, at (309) 779-5059.
