Threshers have busy weekend planned

Great River Threshers will celebrate 32 years with a full billing of activities including entertainment, demonstrations and old-time farm related activities July 11 to 13 in Miles, Iowa.

Friday’s schedule includes 6:30 p.m., parade; 7:30 p.m., swing choir show; 8:15 p.m., Mississippi Valley Gymnastics; and 9 p.m., dance with

50 Pound Rooster playing.

Saturday’s events begin at 10 a.m. with antique swap meet and demonstrations of scroll saw, shingle and broom making, blacksmithing and water ram (a self-primed hand pump that pumps water from creeks). Threshing and log sawing begin at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the weekend. A threshers’ meal will be served from 11 a.m. In the afternoon, children’s games, draft horse show and pedal tractor pull are scheduled. At

6 p.m., Eagle Scout court of honor, and 7 p.m., Iowa State Fair search talent show will go on, followed by a dance with Redneck Rejects band.

Sunday begins with pancake sausage breakfast served from 7 to 11 a.m., community church service at 8:30 a.m. at park; 10 a.m., swap meet, threshing and saddle horse show; noon, truck and track pull; 1 p.m.,  antique fruit jar presentation followed by bingo.
