River Drive in Davenport, from Federal Street to the Bettendorf city limits, has reopened, city Public Works Director Dee Bruemmer said.

City officials ask that motorists stay away from River Drive from Federal to Brady during the next couple of days as crews work to remove the levee. “We’re working hard to get that levee down,” Bruemmer said. “The more space people give us to work the faster we can do it.”

She expressed satisfaction with the speed which the Mississippi River is receding. “The water’s going down pretty well. We’re working with it.”
