United Way of Quad-Cities Area is registering children for free books 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Davenport Freight House Farmers Market, 4th and Gaines streets in the Scott County Administrative Center parking lot in Davenport (location changed because of flooding), and Quad-City Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association market at Trinity Medical Center parking lot, 7th Street, Moline.

Rock Island and Scott County children up to age 5 can register to receive a free book by mail each month through Imagination Library. Donations or $30 annual sponsorships will also be accepted.

United Way is celebrating the year’s longest day with Day of Action, with the local group focusing on education. Contact Marci Zogg at (563) 355-4310. To learn about Imagination Library, visit unitedwayqc.org
