Residents of Henry, Rock Island and Mercer counties may schedule an appointment to enroll their children in Project NOW’s 2008-09 Head Start programs.
Rock Island County and Colona residents call East Moline office at (309) 792-4555; Henry County residents call Kewanee office at (309) 852-4346; Mercer County residents call Aledo office at (309) 582-3668.
Head Start, a no-cost, federal program, provides early childhood education and support services to low-income families. To be eligible, children must reach 3rd (or 4th) birthday by Sept. 1. Priority is given to families who meet federal poverty income guidelines, but the program may enroll up to 10 percent above income guidelines. Transportation is available to most sites.
Project NOW Head Start offers a variety of programs including center and home-based, extended day options and bilingual services. Screenings, referrals and services for children with disabilities are available.
