ALEDO, Ill. — A Matherville man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison as part of a negotiated plea in Mercer County Circuit Court.

Jeremy Dean, 32, received a 10-year term Tuesday on a petition to revoke probation stemming from a 2007 aggravated battery case. Another two years was added to the sentence for failing to register as a sex offender.

As part of the agreement accepted by Judge Carol Pentuick, two Class 2 felonies of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual abuse and another Class 4 felony of criminal sexual abuse were dismissed. Those charges were filed last month in connection with May 24 incidents involving a boy between the ages of 13 and 17.

Dean was previously sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a Class 2 felony of attempted criminal sexual assault in July 2004.
