Good morning, Quad-Cities.  At 5:30 a.m. it’s 67 degrees under light rain in the Quad-Cities. Crews are out cleaning up after last night's storm. Several hundred people still are window power, according to Mid-American Energy's Web site. Also several flights have been canceled at the Quad-City Airport.

Today showers are likely before 1 p.m. with a high near 76 degrees. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 59 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Recent heavy rain also is causing minor flooding in the Quad-City area. If you live or drive in low-lying areas along the Rock and Mississippi rivers, be on the alert for rising waters.

If you travel Kimberly Road in Davenport, this traffic alert is for you. Until September, crews will be working on a shoulder paving project on Kimberly between Brady Street and Elmore Avenue.  The majority of the work will be conducted between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Traffic will be restricted by single-lane closures. There may be weekend lane restrictions, if the contractor chooses to work. Any work not requiring a lane closure may be done during the daylight hours.

The project is being done for preparation of the future widening of  U.S. 6/East Kimberly Road, which has not yet been scheduled. Project work will primarily involve removing the existing rock shoulders and paving the shoulders with hot-mix asphalt. Some intersections will be repaved with  cement. In addition, several storm sewers will be extended and intakes installed.
