We owe Al Gore, Green Peace and the Sierra Club a huge debt. They, and a vast majority of the scientists on Earth have been warning us for years about global warming. Cheney-Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, U.S. Sen. James Inhofe, and Exxon Mobil call global warming a myth. I choose to believe the experts over the right-wing noise machine.

Some experts believe we’ve reached peak oil, which means less oil in the future. That’s irrelevant because with global warming we need to find alternative energy like wind and solar power.

Coal is a major polluter and there is no such thing as clean coal.

Nuclear power is a possibility, but what happens if we have a meltdown like Cherynobyl in the former Soviet Union? Also, where do we propose to store the nuclear waste?

We never hear about conserving oil instead of drilling for more. Maybe we could all drive less, and I’m as guilty as most. Do we really need gas guzzling Humvees and huge sport utility vehicles?

One question we should all ask, what kind of a planet will we leave our children and grandchildren?
