Frankly, I was shocked — shocked! — when I read Sen. Mike Jacobs’ quote about a possible pay raise for legislators. Jacobs said “Frankly, if you don’t want politicians selling jobs and you don’t want politicians carrying plastic bags to the governor’s mansion full of cash, well then you’ve got to pay them.”

It’s unconscionable to use plastic for such a purpose. Don’t politicians care anything about the environment? Plastic is bad — cloth bags are good. When you use cloth bags, they can be used over and over again to carry the cash.

There’s more than one way to think green.

One in 10 Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving Day at a restaurant and more than half will purchase restaurant-prepared takeout items. And the cost is up for those doing it all at home. What are you doing this year?
I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house.
I will be a guest at someone’s home.
I plan to eat out at a local restaurant.
I will eat at home but we are not cooking: Some or all of the food will be catered.
I hosted Thanksgiving for years. It is someone else’s turn.
    I have no plans.
