For the third time your contributor, Sheena Dooley, has written about Bettendorf’s school Superintendent, Marty Lucas, and his alleged traffic offense. Her latest article (May 17) has nothing new to add ,except that some resolution may be forthcoming soon. As a former board member involved with his hiring, let me attest that Mr. Lucas is a good and competent man who has blended well into the community, providing quiet and effective leadership to our district.

I am confident that the school board will receive the additional information it needs and act in the best interests of all parties. Meanwhile, Marty Lucas does not deserve the unnecessary rehashing, in detail, of old news on the front page of your paper and the public flagellation that accompanies it.

One in 10 Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving Day at a restaurant and more than half will purchase restaurant-prepared takeout items. And the cost is up for those doing it all at home. What are you doing this year?
I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house.
I will be a guest at someone’s home.
I plan to eat out at a local restaurant.
I will eat at home but we are not cooking: Some or all of the food will be catered.
I hosted Thanksgiving for years. It is someone else’s turn.
    I have no plans.
