Police are hoping to find a woman who came to the aid of a Davenport man police believed fell while running and then died a few days later, officials said.

Theodore Simoni, 50, died May 13. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as trauma to the head.

Simoni, known for his coaching of Special Olympics teams, left behind two daughters, a grandson and seven siblings.

According to police, officials received a 911 call from Simoni, who lived in the 1400 block of West 14th Street. Simoni said he had fallen a short time earlier and now had severe headaches. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A witness said Simoni was running when he fell forward and hit his head on the pavement. That witness and a second person, a woman, came to Simoni’s aid. The woman gave Simoni a ride to his house.

The woman, officials said, has light-colored hair. She was driving a maroon-colored car, possibly a Grand Am. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Davenport Police Department at (563) 326-7979 or Detective Mark Dinnewith at (563) 326-7762.
