I recently read an article titled “A muddy partnership on the riverfront” (April 22, 2008) and was happy to see there are many people in the Quad-Cities working to make a difference on the river front.
It seemed for years Chad Pregracke’s river cleanup was the only river enhancing project that the public was aware of and that is just not true.
Before reading this article I was not aware there were organizations such as River Action or Greenway Habitat.
For once it is great to hear about people trying to make a difference in our community and particularly with the Mississippi. The fact that they planted trees on the river even during the start of flood season shows great dedication and strength. It is not every day one hears about people getting in the mud to make a difference. To hear that even high school students were involved is great because many people think teens are not doing the right thing. This article shows that there are good students out there willing to make a difference.
I applaud the work of River Action and Greenway Habitat, I appreciate the time and efforts of those Quad-Citians trying to make a difference in our precious community.
