DES MOINES — The Iowa Board of Regents announced the appointment of Robert Donley on Thursday to serve as the board’s executive director.

Donley currently serves as chief of staff and operations for the board of governors of the Florida State University System.

Donley, 47, takes over the position in Iowa on June 9 at a salary of $145,000.

He succeeds Gary Steinke, who now serves as president of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. Andy Baumert had been serving as interim executive director.
