Don’t get too comfortable in your seat for the new production by the Prenzie Players, which opens this weekend.
The Prenzies are turning all of the space in Rock Island’s Masonic Temple into their play area, performing Pedro Calderon’s 17th-century drama “Life’s a Dream.” Stairwells, hallways and even restrooms will turn into spaces for improvisational performances before the show and during intermission.
And “Dream” will be on two sperate stages — one to represent the dank claustrophobia of a prison tower and the other to represent the bright, glittering opulence of a palace.
In “Dream,” a king is told his newborn son is destined to overthrow him and become a tyrant. The king then imprisons his son to determine whether predestination or free will is the stronger force.
