Good Wednesday, Quad-Cities. At 6 a.m. it’s 57 degrees with light rain. Showers are in store today, mainly between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. The high will be near 71 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will see about a 20 percent chance of showers with a low around 45 degrees.

Looks like neither Democratic candidate scored a knockout in yesterday’s primaries. Barack Obama won in North Carolina while Hillary Clinton took the Indiana primary. Up next is the West Virginia primary on May 13. Check out our Elections 2008 site for the latest primary results/delegate count.

The Mississippi River in the Quad-Cities continues to recede. It is currently at 16.78 feet this morning and steadily falling. It should fall to below flood stage by next week. River Drive in Davenport is now open to traffic. Moline’s River Drive could reopen to traffic later this week.

Driving near Sherrard, Ill., today? County highway L (63rd Street) from County highway NN (176th Avenue) south to Sherrard will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Thursday for road work.
