Genesis Medical Center will offer free skin cancer screenings 8-10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Genesis Cancer Center, 1401 W. Central Park Ave., Davenport.

The event is for people who have not previously been screened. Drs. Susan Perry, John Bovenmeyer, Robert Godwin and Manish Kumar will conduct the examinations. Participants should use the Atrium entrance located on the West Central Park Avenue side of the hospital.

The screening is being held to increase public awareness of malignant melanoma and other skin cancers. Skin cancers are highly curable if detected in the earliest stages and treated properly.

Participants can sign up by calling (563) 421-3200 and pushing 4, or going online to genesishealth.com and clicking on “classes/events,” and then “screenings.” Participants can choose to have sun-exposed areas evaluated or have a full-body screen, for which they should wear a bathing suit under their clothing.
