A fire at Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf late Monday caused approximately $10,000 in damage, officials said.
The fire was reported about 11:20 p.m. at the plant, 225 S. 33rd St. Firefighters who arrived on the scene minutes later quickly called for an aerial truck and other forms of assistance to battle the blaze on the roof. Radiant heat from a furnace caused the fire, officials said.
The business has been the scene of at least four fires in the past decade, including one in the roof that caused an estimated $50,000 damage in July 2000.
