UPDATED: River Drive in Davenport has reopened to traffic.

After working overnight to clear flood barriers and debris, Davenport public works crews have cleared the roadway.

According to a news release from the city, construction continues along River Drive from Howell to the city limits, which will restrict traffic to one lane.

But the city reported that all roads that had been closed because of the flood will be open by 1 p.m.

Davenport riverfront begins to return to normal

EARLIER STORY: The receding Mississippi River in the Quad-Cities continues to open areas that last week were under floodwaters. The  Mississippi is currently at 16.96 feet this morning and steadily falling. It should go below flood stage early next week.

River Drive in Davenport is now open between 3rd Street and the east city limit. Westbound drivers may enter downtown via 4th Street. That stretch opened yesterday. River Drive from the U.S. 61/Iowa 22 interchange to Brady Street is also open for the morning commute. And on Wednesday, River Drive between Brady Street and 3rd Street will reopen.

Also open for business this morning is the Rhythm City riverboat casino in downtown Davenport. Floodwaters blocked its doors and forced the business to close last week.

In Bettendorf, three park areas — Eagles Landing, Pigeon Creek and Leach Park — have reopened after closing temporarily as have the riverfront trail between Davenport and the Interstate 74 bridge.
