Hill among 4 arrested in hotel fight

Four Davenport residents, including a man who has had several previous run-ins with the law, face charges after a fight broke out early Sunday at the LaQuinta Inn, 3330 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport.

According to Davenport police, a disturbance that involved more than 100 people broke out in a common area of the hotel.

Fliers placed on cars at least in the Goose Creek Heights neighborhood in Davenport last week announced a Top Shelf Productions “MayDay Birthday Bash Pt. I” from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at the LaQuinta Inn for those age 21 and older.

Among those facing charges in connection with the fight are:

n Pachino Tehran Hill, 29, no address, faces charges of disorderly conduct by fighting. According to police, Hill allegedly was “acting in a violent manner” and “used a metal pipe to strike another combatant over the head.”

n Dominic Antonio Howard, 24, of 911 N. Pershing Ave., faces a charge of failure to disperse after he was told to leave the area by uniformed police officers. He allegedly refused to leave and engaged in the fight, picking up a plastic chair and swinging it at a group of several other people involved in the brawl.

n Lamonte Jontrell Williams, 25, of 1219 N. Stark St., was charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly tore a fire extinguisher off the wall and tried to throw it into the crowd but was apprehended by an officer before it was thrown.

n Marithea Lolabell Howard, 25, of 2010 W. 58th St., was charged with failure to disperse and public intoxication.

Hill’s previous record, and his sentences, have proven to be controversial.

Hill was sentenced in March by Scott County Associate Judge Christine Dalton to a counseling program offered by Third Missionary Baptist Church. She also ordered him to attend church there eight consecutive Sundays, to pay a fine and be on probation for one year.

The counseling program plan was presented to the judge by Hill’s attorney, Brenda Drew-Peeples; and supported by Rogers Kirk, pastor at Third Missionary.

Hill has a police record dating back to 1993 when he was 14 years old. In that case, he was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Lawrence Brown Johnson. He was accused of giving the gun used in the shooting to Clyde Edwards Jr.

Hill pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and terrorism. Hill was sentenced to

15 years in prison.

He currently is facing a felony charge for fleeing from a Rock Island County Sheriff’s deputy.

Hill faces charges in connection with a chase, which started in Rock Island and ended in Davenport. The deputy was trying to stop Hill last October for a broken headlight and eventually caught him after a foot chase in the area of 12th Street and Pershing Avenue.

His trial is set for June 2.
