The Quad-City Times announced Wednesday gains in paid circulation and in overall readership.

“While national stories denote declining trends in the newspaper industry, the Quad-City Times is proudly bucking those trends,” Publisher Julie Bechtel said.

“Our paid circulation numbers are audited every six months by the Audit Bureau of Circulation. This company represents the industry standard for accuracy in reporting newspapers sold,” Bechtel said. “Our latest audited numbers show modest gains in both our daily home-delivered copies and our overall Sunday circulation. The Quad-City Times is the community’s only daily newspaper that subscribes to this audit.”

She said numbers for the Times are even more impressive considering the 65 percent year-over-year growth in the company’s Web site, qctimes.com. More than 400,000 unique monthly visitors make qctimes.com the area’s leading online source for local news and information, she said.

These unique visitors result in more than 4 million page views during the month, a 46 percent year-over-year growth, she said.

A recently released Lee Enterprises survey of its properties conducted by an outside research company shows a

74 percent combined readership reach for the Times and qctimes.com.

“This means that we now reach almost eight out of

10 adults with a combination of print and Web products,” Bechtel said. “The conclusions confirmed our strong market position. We outreach all other local media by a significant margin, including other print and all radio and television newscasts.

“The Quad-City Times is more than the area’s top local newspaper,” she said. “We are in touch with more people on a daily basis than any other media and are proud to serve as your No. 1 source of local news and advertising.”
