An East Moline man was arrested Saturday in connection with the robbery of an ice cream van after a witness chased a suspect, according to East Moline police.
An unarmed man allegedly robbed the RED’s Ice Cream van on the 600 block of 21st Street, according to police. A male witness saw the incident and chased the suspect.
The witness, police said, recovered a cash drawer and some of the money, even though the suspect struck the witness with the drawer.
The witness, who had minor head injuries, continued to chase the suspect for about three blocks until he lost sight of the suspect.
Police later found Anthony Banks, 27, of East Moline, who was arrested and charged with robbery and aggravated battery.
RED’s Ice Cream gave the witness a $100 reward, police said.
