ZION, Ill. (AP) — A school bus driver and amateur artist in the northern Chicago suburb of Zion says he has filed a petition to change his name legally in Lake County Circuit Court.
The new name 57-year-old Steve Kreuscher wants to use is “In God We Trust.”
Kreuscher says the new name would symbolize the help God gave him through tough times.
Kreuscher also told the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald that he’s worried that atheists may be successful in having the phrase “In God We Trust” removed from U.S. currency.
He remembers when the phrase “God Reigns” was removed from the Zion city seal in 1992 after the courts deemed it unconstitutional.
