The Quad-City Sports Center on River Drive, Davenport, expects to reopen this Sunday.

The facility had closed Monday morning because of the rising Mississippi River prevented people from reaching the building.

The Sports Center, 700 W. River Drive, made the tentative decision to reopen Sunday after talking with Davenport officials, according to a news release issued today by Greg Samms, general manager of the center. Samms said the facility was not damaged by flood waters but some cleanup around the building will be required.

Rain over the next few days could affect the reopening, however. The news release stated that the intersection of Gaines Street and River Drive will not be accessible until the river drops to 17.1 feet. That is now expected sometime on Sunday, but rain could stall the decline.
