Good Tuesday morning, Quad-Cities. At 6 a.m. it’s 31 degrees under fair skies. Did you cover your plants last night? You should have as there is frost to scrape off car windows this morning. The National Weather Service says there will continue to be areas of frost before 9 a.m. before giving way to mostly sunny skies and a high of 52 degrees. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 38 degrees.
The Mississippi River currently is cresting upstream in Camanche, Iowa, and Fulton, Ill., and should crest this afternoon in LeClaire, Iowa. In the Quad-Cities, a crest of 19.3 feet is expected late tonight. Check out the flooding on the skybridge Web cam.
Several roads and low-lying areas along the Quad-City riverfront are closed because of flooding, including River Drive in Davenport and Moline. Also in Moline, North Shore and South Shore drives around the Rock River are closed because of high water.
If you travel Valley Drive in Bettendorf you’ll see a detour for a road project that begins this week. Valley Drive will be closed to traffic between Belmont Road and Park Avenue, but the two intersections will remain open. Traffic will be detoured to Middle Road using Belmont, Crow Creek and Moencks roads. The road is expected to reopen June 27.
