Former Davenport Mayor Pat Gibbs was hospitalized Wednesday after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Gibbs, 49, a three-term mayor from 1992 to 1998, was being treated at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme St., Davenport.
“It started about 2 p.m. and I was at the hospital by
3 p.m.,” Gibbs said from the hospital. “I feel pretty good now, but I still have some pain,” he said about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. “The enzymes are up so it is a heart attack. They’re going to run some other tests to see what they show before they decide what to do.”
It is his third heart attack, with the first one occurring
2 ½ years ago and the second occurring about 18 months ago. Gibbs said he currently has three heart stents in place.
