CLINTON, Iowa — The Clinton City Council’s internal operations committee narrowed its list of city attorney candidates Tuesday to four and plans to interview the candidates April 10 and 11.
The four finalists are Matt Fullerton of Clinton, Christopher Hansen of Clinton, Paul Walter of Des Moines and Gerald LoRang of Newton.
City Attorney Matt Brisch will leave his post April 30 to become a partner at Howes & Jefferies Realtors in Clinton.
The city received 10 applications for the job, said committee chairman Mike Kearney, 2nd Ward.
During a discussion of the qualifications for the job, City Administrator Gary Boden said the new city attorney will need a strong background in real estate law to help guide the city through its future development. Brisch said the attorney also will need knowledge of employment to assist in human resources matters.
City officials hope to put a resolution to hire a new city attorney on the agenda for the April 22 council meeting.
