CLINTON, Iowa — A Clinton man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he allegedly tried to photograph his 17-year-old stepdaughter in the shower with his cell phone camera.

The man, who is not being identified to protect the identity of the alleged victim, was charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of carrying a weapon after police who took him into custody in the

400 block of Riverview Drive Tuesday afternoon found a handgun in his truck,

according to court records.

The alleged victim told police that in January she encountered him while leaving the bathroom after taking a shower and he asked her to “flash him” and offered to pay her to allow him to take nude photos of her, according to court records.

She also told police she saw a cell phone in the bathroom window while she was taking a shower, and her mother and brother told police on another occasion they saw him outside the bathroom window with his cell phone while the girl was in the shower.

The man was released from custody and ordered not to have any contact with the girl, her mother or her brother, according to court records. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 8.

Sexual exploitation of a minor is a class C felony, punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison.
