KJWW Engineering Consultants, Rock Island, has been named one of the “Best AEC Firms to Work For” by Building Design & Construction Magazine.

Nine architectural, engineering and construction firms out of 43 entries from across the country were selected for the honor. The award recognizes firms that “excel in innovative recruitment and retention practices, professional development, social and corporate responsibility, workplace environment, compensation/benefits and business practices.”

Paul VanDuyne, KJWW’s president, said the firm’s practice is to regularly seek input from its employees. “We listen to them and then take action, continually making improvements.”

Building Design and Construction honored KJWW for its tradition of recruiting graduated engineers and then continuously mentoring and training them to perform at the highest level.

The magazine also highlighted the firm’s dedication to training. In the past three years, KJWW has offered 1,233 technical training sessions and devoted 29,212 hours to employee training. An average of $2,718 per employee is spent on training each year. KJWW also offers 36-hour customized graduate-level business courses.
