The city of Davenport’s Public Works Department has begun sweeping city streets remove winter debris.
For the first time in more than a decade, the city used sand in the winter plowing operations, and over the next several weeks the entire city will be swept to collect the debris, said the city’s public information officer Jennifer Nahra.
Excess pothole filling
material also will be cleaned.
The city is asking property owners to sweep their sidewalks and driveways into the curb line.
Nahra said crews are working on the snow routes.
Residential streets will be cleaned after the snow routes are done. News releases will be issued to remind all property owners of the sweeper schedule so citizens can clean their property prior to sweeping.
While sweepers can pick up all types of litter, the city encourages residents to dispose of litter other than rock, concrete and sand through your garbage collection.
Residents and businesses can check when their areas will be swept by visiting the city’s Web site at cityofdavenportiowa.com/publicworks. This site will have a one week schedule to better inform citizens of the clean up.
