TIPTON, Iowa — Tipton High School Principal Chris Habben is talking with North Cedar about ways the two districts can be more efficient by working together.
The discussion is an outgrowth of a sharing agreement between Tipton and North Cedar for vocational agriculture. Superintendent Dick Grimoskas said he and administrators from other districts are exploring ways to share vocational classes and upper academic classes. Kirkwood College is working with the districts to promote sharing.
In other school news, a resolution was adopted changing “church night” from Thursday to Wednesday beginning in the fall. The schools will try to not schedule activities after 6 p.m. Wednesdays. The change was made to conform to the policy of the new athletic conference Tipton joined, Cedar Valley Conference.
Cedar Valley Conference schools are closer in size to Tipton than schools in the Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference, which Tipton joined in the 1980s.
At the close of this athletic season, the Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference will be dissolved.
ArrowQuick Solutions, LLC, Oskaloosa, Iowa, was chosen to redesign and develop the school’s Web site at a cost of up to $3,173 for the software and design. School employees will be trained to use the Web site and to edit it.
ArrowQuick will be paid $75 per hour if additional services are needed.
